Abstract

The present study has as its object the teaching work in the Education of Young and Adults in the Montes Claros II Prison, whose objective is to analyze the training of the teaching workforce, the methods used in this process, identify the financial contributions of the public and private sectors that are destined to education in the prisons of the State of Minas Gerais, analyze the difficulties that present themselves in the exercise of the profession, as well as to know the reality of the prison system, in particular of the Montes Claros II Prison, as an aid in the construction of citizenship and the return of these individuals to society. It is a bibliographic and documentary research, having as reference the State Plan of Education for People Deprived of Liberty and Graduates of the Prison System of Minas Gerais. It is added that they are partial research data for the production of dissertation in the ambit of the Postgraduate Program in Education of Unimontes – PPGE/Unimontes. It was observed that the education of prisoners in prisons is carried out through the partnership between the State Secretariat of Education of Minas Gerais (SEE/MG) and the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (SEJUSP), via Technical Cooperation Agreement, and Basic Education in prison units and Association for Protection and Assistance to Convicts (APACs) is offered through the modality Youth and Adult Education (EJA), besides Professional and Technological Education, modalities that aim to prepare the re-educating and its reinsertion into society. It is concluded that, although the State Education Plan indicates the existence of access to education within the prisons, it does not mean affirming the presence of public policies directed towards educators, which suggests the need for greater theoretical and empirical depth in the matter, in particular, in the ambit of the Montes Claros II Prison, an area of coverage of the State University of Montes Claros and the Post-Graduation Program of Unimontes – PPGE.
